The EMU-AltaVe facility allows experimentation in Ultra High speed optical communication systems, THz technologies and SDM-based systems, supporting a wide range of research needs from academia and industry. Our laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art equipments, including:
Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG): Keysight M8199A-ATO Arbitrary Waveform Generator
- With four channels, rate from 128 GSa/s and up to 70 GHz of analog bandwidth.
Optical Phase and Quadrature Modulator: IDPhotonics OMFT-C-01-FA Modulator
- With integrated bias and bandwidth up tp 60 GHz this IQ modulator suports symbol rates beyond 120 GBd.
Optical Front-End with an Integrated Local Oscillator: Keysight N4391B-070 Optical Modulation Analyzer/ Keysight UXR0704A
- Real-time oscilloscope with 4 channels, 80 GHz bandwidth and 256-GSa/s sampling rate. It is equipped with a N4391B Optical Modulation Analyzer for optical coherent detection.
Vector Network Analyzer (VNA): Anritsu VNA ME7838/AX/EX/DG
- Continuous frequency coverage from a few MHz to 330 GHz including the respective calibration sets.
- Calibration stability for 24 hours around 0.1 dB and 0.5º for S21.
- Dynamic range around 105 dB for bands of the order of 110 GHz.
- It allows the measurement of active devices with a linear power sweep range > 50 dB.
