The EMU-AltaVe facility allows experimentation in Ultra High speed optical communication systems, THz technologies and SDM-based systems, supporting a wide range of research needs from academia and industry. Our laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art equipments, including:
Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG): Keysight M8199A-ATO Arbitrary Waveform Generator

With four channels, rate from 128 GSa/s and up to 70 GHz of analog bandwidth.
Optical Phase and Quadrature Modulator: IDPhotonics OMFT-C-01-FA Modulator

With integrated bias and bandwidth up tp 60 GHz this IQ modulator suports symbol rates beyond 120 GBd.
Optical Front-End with an Integrated Local Oscillator: Keysight N4391B-070 Optical Modulation Analyzer/ Keysight UXR0704A

Real-time oscilloscope with 4 channels, 80 GHz bandwidth and 256-GSa/s sampling rate. It is equipped with a N4391B Optical Modulation Analyzer for optical coherent detection.
Vector Network Analyzer (VNA): Anritsu VNA ME7838/AX/EX/DG

Continuous frequency coverage from a few MHz to 330 GHz including the respective calibration sets.
Calibration stability for 24 hours around 0.1 dB and 0.5º for S21.
Dynamic range around 105 dB for bands of the order of 110 GHz.
It allows the measurement of active devices with a linear power sweep range > 50 dB.
