CCD-TAAL operates a specialized video recording and motion capture laboratory dedicated to the detailed recording of Brazilian Sign Language (Libras) productions. The multimodal data collected in this environment support research in linguistic analysis, sign language processing, and the development and control of signing 3D avatars.
The laboratory is equipped with a professional Vicon motion capture system, comprising 18 infrared cameras for passive marker tracking and four conventional video cameras. This infrastructure enables the synchronized, high-precision recording of participants’ body movements and signing performances.
Data processing and post-production are carried out using specialized software, including Shogun Live, Shogun Post, Character Creator, and Blender, as well as software tools and computational solutions developed by the CCD-TAAL team to address the specific requirements of its research projects.
