This Project, sponsored by FAPESP - Sao Paulo Research Foundation, and R&D ANEEL Project MERGE, founded by CPFL Energia, aims to carry out advanced research in the area of intelligent electricity networks (Smart Grids), focusing on energy distribution networks.
The effective realization of an intelligent network of electrical power depends on the strong interaction between researches in the areas of: power systems, alternative energy sources, power electronics, network control systems, optimization, communication and information networks.
This Project brings together highly qualified researchers in all of these areas.
In addition, in order to advance knowledge, the objective is to create a laboratory environment in which experimental checks can be carried out, what will succeed theoretical and computational studies and precede field applications.
Such an environment will have programmable sources and loads, as well as replicate scenarios typical of low voltage distribution networks. In addition to serving as an environment for academic activities, it is intended that this environment be open to other users, especially companies and research institutions in the regions of Campinas and Sorocaba, many of which act intensely in the area of intelligent networks.
